programme um 2010

IInterdisciplinarity/Uniqueness - Report/ Exchanging views are the key words that characterize, inspire and identify the UM. Speakers and audience come from diverse environments and may even be competitors; UM provides a platform where they can exchange views and ideas. Speakers are also "development drivers" and report on their first, unique approach to modeFRONTIER® in the project start -up phase.

UM - International modeFRONTIER® Users’ Meeting is promoted by ESTECO.
UM offers a unique opportunity to discover modeFRONTIER® software operation and its unique capacity to bring together a variety of simulation software programs supporting product innovation.
The meeting provides a platform for exchanging ideas and views across a wide range of high-tech industrial sectors engaging technologists worldwide. Participants can consider the versatility of the software itself as well as methods of application and other aspects.
For ESTECO and companies using modeFRONTIER®, cuts in production costs and processing time are not the only tools enabling companies to stay competitive. Instead, product quality is today’s main goal, in the context of current changes on the world economy front.
A further goal of the meeting is to present and diffuse a technology developed in Trieste, which is currently playing a lead role throughout the world as the strategic choice of stateof- the-art companies operating on the world market (Ferrari, Fiat, Toyota, Audi, BMW, Ford, Jaguar, Honda, EADS, Embraer, Samsung, Canon and many others) as well as many renowned universities and research centers.
modeFRONTIER® gives its users a competitive edge throughout the product development process; it is key to their success and a driving factor behind creation of their most innovative products.
The meeting is highly relevant at both local and international level, addressing the most upto-date issues of the sector. In view of the event’s high technological and cultural value and its importance in terms of image for Trieste, the meeting will be attended by participants from many European and non-European countries.

UM is an event offering much more than just an update about a software system’s development.
Topics on the UM agenda include:

  • rationalization of the designing process;
  • product optimization in terms of technical requirements and also of process, product and marketing metrics;
  • applicability and reliability of decision-support IT tools in a context of diverse goals, experience and approach, whether professional or managerial;
  • parallel engineering and design organization in industrial networks, with suppliers increasingly involved in the process.

UM is not just about software.

UM means above all analysis and organization of the designing process; development, enhancement and transfer of knowledge and skills; challenges to take up; opportunities to seize. And at all times with focus on innovation, remaining aware of its true value, relevance and impact in the field of application.

In 2000 ESTECO's message was:
"Our mission is to help companies to enhance product design. Today’s main concern is cost-cutting and reduction of time-to-market as the only way to stay competitive.
However, we at ESTECO believe that having the best product is still a goal companies should strive for".

Ten years on we indeed maintain we were right, and are proud in our belief that we have made a significant contribution to improved products in a wide range of industries.
